Custodian - 2nd Shift

Custodian - Full Time Position 2nd Shift - 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm

The Custodian ensures that students and staff are provided with a safe, attractive, and clean working and learning environment. Additionally, the Custodian is committed to Atlantis Charter School Board of Trustee’s policies regarding equity, human rights and cross cultural understanding and reports to the Facilities Coordinator or their designee.

Position is Monday – Friday, 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm when school is in session. During breaks when school is not in session, hours will be adjusted to include working 8am – 4:30 pm (only during school breaks).

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous experience working in a related field in an education setting preferred

• Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, neat and clean at all times. Shovel and sand walkways and steps during inclement weather, as needed.
• Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are accessible and working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
• Sweep and clean classroom floors, corridors and stairs thoroughly on a daily basis. Use floor and carpet cleaning machinery as needed.
• Clean eating areas as assigned, including regularly cleaning and sweeping floors, wiping and disinfecting tables and taking out the trash.
• Respond to emergency custodial requests as required, including answering emergency alarm calls after hours as assigned.
• Clean and disinfect bathrooms daily, including toilet, sanitary fixtures, bathroom floor, and sink. Use bathroom cleaning machinery as directed. Use appropriate signage to warn others about potential safety hazards, such as wet floor signs.
• Clean and sanitize water fountains daily.
• Keep school grounds free from trash and rubbish and take out trash from outside bins as directed.
• Complete daily checklist for assigned tasks at the end of each shift and use it to communicate with the next shift any tasks that may need to be addressed.
• Operate lawn equipment to maintain landscaping of the property as directed. Lawn equipment includes but is not limited to lawn mowers, weed trimmers, and blowers.
• Operate all machinery safely, following instructions and safety protocols to operate it properly and safely. Report damage to machinery or repairs needed to the Director of Campus Facilities.
• Report major repairs and/or damage to the Director of Campus Facilities promptly.
• Report immediately to the Director of Campus Facilities and Principal any damage to school property.
• Observe and promote safe work practices and procedures at all times.
• Adhere to proper cleaning methods, storage, and proper care of Atlantis Charter School equipment and supplies and complete the appropriate checklist.
• Regulate heat, ventilation, and air‑conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity, as needed.
• Remain on school premises as requested and necessary when use of the building has been authorized and extended work hours have been approved and be able to work flexible shift assignments as needed.
• Assume responsibility for the opening and closing of the building when assigned and ensure that all doors and windows are secured, lights are turned off, and alarm system is turned on before leaving the premises.
• Move furniture and equipment as directed by District Leader/Principal/Director of Campus Facilities.
