Weekend Cleaner - Part-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking a part‑time cleaner to work Saturday and Sunday to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the 52‐bed homeless shelter and 18 permanent supportive housing units. This includes daily cleaning of resident areas, common spaces, restrooms, dining areas, offices, kitchen, and supporting meal service cleanups, as well as maintaining inventory of janitorial supplies.

• Cleans the facility several times throughout the day, with special attention to high‑use areas to maintain hygiene and safety.
• Assists with deep cleaning tasks on a weekly or monthly basis.
• Vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sweeping, disinfecting surfaces, and trash removal to maintain cleanliness and safety.
• Basic cleaning of all common areas, including restrooms, entrances, walkways, windows, furniture, fixtures, elevators, stairs, and walls.
• Maintains the parking lot, outdoor areas, dumpster area, and smoking areas, keeping them clean and free of trash.
• Maintains cleaning equipment and reports any maintenance issues, hazards, or safety concerns promptly.
• Responds to urgent cleaning needs or spills in a timely and professional manner.
• Refills cleaning supplies, tracks inventory needs, and notifies the supervisor when restocking is required.
• Follows all shelter policies regarding cleaning chemicals, equipment usage, and safety procedures.
• Follows infection control procedures, including proper usage of PPE.
• Exhibits reliability, punctuality, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Works an adjusted schedule, including evenings and weekends as necessary to meet program needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Prior custodial, housekeeping, or facility maintenance experience (preferred).
• Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Excellent time management and communication skills.
• Must pass criminal and Child Protective Services background checks.

• Prolonged periods of walking, standing, and performing physical tasks.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and perform tasks such as bending, standing, and carrying physical supplies.
• Must attend occasional meetings at other FACETS office locations within Fairfax County, including three annual organization‑wide fundraising events each year.

• Hourly: $18.
