Maintenance Planner
This position plans, directs, and coordinates maintenance schedules, focusing on equipment and utility system improvements. It collaborates with leadership and staff to maintain equipment and facilities, reducing downtime and maximizing production efficiency. The role ensures a safe, organized work environment and manages all work order requests through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). This position requires being on-site in support of the Maintenance department.
Partners with Quality Assurance, executing and supporting all Quality programs that ensure the production of Safe, Quality Foods. Responsible for developing the maintenance team by providing training and growth opportunities to enhance their collective skills, while promoting a work environment that brings out the best in the maintenance and stockroom teams. Held to high standards in mechanical uptime and reliability, regulatory compliance, plant safety and adherence to the maintenance budget.
Directs equipment maintenance such as preventive maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of various types of equipment completed by maintenance staff. Develops preventive and predictive maintenance (PDM) programs by tracking and documenting activities, assigning tasks to maintenance mechanics, reviewing the scope and frequency of work, and making adjustments as needed. Determines the timing of preventive work orders based on work order and repair history, input from mechanics and manufacturing, and data from failure detection methods and devices.
Identifies the resources and materials needed to complete the requested work, verifies their availability before scheduling, and arranges appropriate alternatives when necessary. Collaborates with Supervisors to estimate job requirements for preventative maintenance activities, including staffing needs and man-hours per task, and enters and maintains this data in the CMMS. Oversees audit compliance of preventive maintenance supervisors. Participates in meetings with facility leadership to plan upcoming daily and weekly schedules, review the status of scheduled work orders, and discuss new incoming work orders.
Identifies opportunities to improve processes, planning, or performance by analyzing work order flow, project demands, and expectations. Enforces safety procedures and coaches employees to ensure all work is performed safely, while maintaining employee safety through proper training, enforcement of safety rules, and adherence to established procedures. Provides leadership in upholding company policies and procedures, while ensuring adherence to company values and standards.
Collaborates effectively with direct supervision and maintain professional, cooperative relationships at all levels within the company. Orders maintenance supplies when the Parts Room Attendant is unavailable. Performs other duties as required.
Education:
At least a High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college coursework is preferred, and mechanical vocational training is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of proven supervision experience in a Maintenance Manufacturing environment.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or equivalent platforms. Thorough knowledge of food processing/manufacturing. Extensive experience with Computerized Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs, Predictive Maintenance Systems, CMMS, work orders, facility processing equipment, and plant infrastructure. Ability to work independently and lead mechanics, leads, stockroom staff, maintenance planner, and others in the facility. Proficient in reading mechanical/electrical blueprints, equipment setup, ERP systems, facility purchasing, and line balancing.
Strong hands-on management style with the ability to plan, organize, and lead by example. Knowledge of OSHA and Environmental Regulations. Ability to manage multiple plant projects and overall plant maintenance. Motivated team leader with exceptional skills in developing others.
