The Maintenance Reliability Planner is a key role within the operations team responsible for planning, coordinating, and improving maintenance activities across the facility. This position ensures that maintenance work is properly defined, resourced, and scheduled to support safe, efficient, and reliable equipment performance. This role utilizes the CMMS system to manage work orders, preventive maintenance programs, asset data, and spare parts inventory.
A primary objective of this position is to help transition the facility from a reactive maintenance environment to a proactive, reliability-driven operation by improving planning processes, increasing preventive maintenance effectiveness, and reducing unplanned downtime.
Schedule:
This position typically works a first-shift M-F schedule; however, flexibility might be required to support off-shift work, weekend activities, and planned shutdowns as needed to support maintenance operations.
- Plan, organize, and manage the full lifecycle of maintenance work orders within the CMMS system, including creation, prioritization, scheduling, tracking, and closure.
- Review and evaluate incoming maintenance requests to ensure work is clearly defined, properly prioritized, and aligned with operational needs.
- Develop detailed job plans that include scope of work, task sequencing, labor estimates, required materials, tools, and safety considerations.
- Ensure all required parts, tools, and documentation are available prior to job execution to support efficient and effective maintenance activities.
- Coordinate and communicate work assignments with maintenance technicians and follow up on job progress to ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and according to plan.
- Review completed work orders for accuracy and quality, ensuring proper documentation and system updates are completed by technicians.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the preventive maintenance (PM) program.
- Review and optimize PM tasks for accuracy, frequency, and effectiveness, while ensuring PM work orders are generated, scheduled, and completed on time.
- Identify opportunities to reduce recurring equipment failures and increase the percentage of planned maintenance work.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to develop and maintain weekly maintenance schedules that balance production priorities with maintenance requirements.
- Participate in planning meetings and coordinate maintenance work during scheduled downtime, outages, and production changeovers.
- Manage maintenance spare parts inventory to ensure accuracy, availability, and appropriate stocking levels.
- Establish and maintain inventory strategies including min/max levels and reorder points, perform cycle counts, and ensure inventory records are accurately maintained within the CMMS system.
