General Maintenance Worker
Works independently, performs all phases of carpenter work required for the facility. Performs custodial duties and minor repairs.
Maintenance
- Receives work orders and acts as the facility carpenter in the alteration, repair, and maintenance of the building and equipment. Performs cleaning. Sets-up and operates wood working tools required to complete the job. Erected or dismantles structures; repairs or refinishes walls or structures. Responsible for the maintenance of carpenter shop equipment. Assists in snow shoveling walkways when needed. Snowplow experience a plus.
Assists in moving furniture when needed. Builds shelves/cabinets/etc. as needed. Minor landscaping as required. Painting walls and furniture as needed. Minor plumbing repairs.
Lean Initiatives
- Observes company processes and makes recommendations for improvement. Participates in continuous improvement projects.
Other
- Maintains adherence to company policies, environmental and safety standards, and good housekeeping standards. May be required to assist or otherwise instruct other personnel. Must possess a valid driver's license. Perform other duties as may be required. Attendance is an essential function of the job.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- High School graduate or demonstration of equivalent skills. Experience in carpentry and painting required. Must be capable of using hand tools & electric saws safely. Minor plumbing skills a plus. Knowledge of general facility & property maintenance and cleaning. Must be a steady, reliable worker. Must be able to perform simple tasks independently after being given specific instructions.
Physical Requirements
- Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb and reach. Prolonged and frequent standing. Ability to lift objects from lower to a higher position or moving horizontally from position-to-position. Ability to lift up to 35 lbs frequently & unassisted
