Plant Operations Process Control NM Certification Required Within 18 Months Wastewater operator certifications preferred — will train the right candidate! New Mexico Level I Water or Wastewater certification must be obtained within 18 months of assignment. On-call availability for emergencies required. Pay:
Up to $22.95 per hour

We're looking for a motivated Operator-in-Training to support the operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities under the direction of a certified operator. You'll monitor equipment, maintain shift logs, learn process control procedures, and build the skills needed to earn your New Mexico Level I certification. This is an excellent entry point into a utility operations career with a clear path to licensure.

What

you do
  • Operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water, wastewater, sludge, and effluent under certified operator supervision
  • Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels; observe and report abnormalities
  • Maintain shift logs and record meter and gauge readings
  • After training, operate valves, gates, pumps, engines, and generators to control treatment processes
  • Learn to take samples and perform routine process laboratory tests and analysis
  • Perform routine maintenance, equipment servicing, and custodial duties
  • Report operating problems to lead operator or supervisor and perform directed corrective action
  • Travel between work locations as required
  • Respond to emergency on-call situations as needed
What you need
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must obtain New Mexico Level I certification in Water or Wastewater within 18 months of assignment
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • Punctual, reliable attendance and willingness to be on-call for emergencies
  • Ability to travel between work locations
  • Nice to have New Mexico Level I Water or Wastewater operator certification already obtained
  • Prior experience in water, wastewater, or utility operations
