Summary of

Job Duties:

The Custodial Equipment Repair Technician serves as the primary technical resource for custodial equipment maintenance and repair operations. This role ensures the reliability, safety, and operational readiness of cleaning machinery and related equipment across assigned facilities. The technician performs skilled mechanical and electrical repair work, implements preventive maintenance programs, manages equipment service documentation, and supports custodial staff through training and technical guidance.

This position operates with a high degree of independence and technical judgment, prioritizing repair needs to minimize downtime and maintain efficient custodial operations. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques

  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment operation and maintenance

  • Ability to follow instructions and perform repetitive manual work

  • Ability to use cleansers and other agents to clean floors and furniture

  • Ability to use housekeeping cleaning supplies and equipment

  • Ability to work independently without close supervision

  • Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and to prioritize assignments

  • Ability to perform repetitive manual work

  • Ability to do required lifting (up to 50 lbs.)

Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least one year of experience repairing custodial, industrial, mechanical, or similar equipment

  • Experience working with mechanical and electrical systems

  • Experience safely using hand and power tools

  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and technical documentation

  • Experience managing multiple work orders and prioritizing accordingly

  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least two years of custodial experience in the commercial/corporate industry

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work with tools for extended periods

  • Ability to work in shop environments and throughout campus facilities

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (continued):
  • Ability to work with cleaning equipment and supplies

  • Ability to follow instructions and perform repetitive manual work

Salary:

$39,930
