We are seeking a Boiler Plant Operator to support the Veteran community in the Fayetteville, NC area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals.
Position Highlights:- Logistics:
- Pay: $29.33+ an hour
- Contract Type: 1-year contract
- Schedule: 12-hour shift rotation.
- Location: 2300 Ramsey St, Fayetteville, NC 28301
- Requirements
:- Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
- A minimum of 3+ years of direct experience operating high-pressure industrial or commercial steam boiler systems.
- A valid North Carolina High-Pressure Stationary Engineer Certification (or an equivalent recognized by the state) is required. The certification must be current and adhere to North Carolina state regulations.
- High-Pressure Stationary Engineer License (North Carolina Boiler License)
- Class 1 Stationary Engineer License
- OSHA 10 Hour Safety Training
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Certification
- Confined Space Entry Certification
- Water Treatment Certification / Training
- Confined Space Entry Certification:
Required when working in confined spaces related to boiler systems. - Water Treatment Certification / Training: A solid understanding of boiler water chemistry and treatment is strongly advised.
- Strong knowledge of boiler controls, burner management, water treatment chemistry, and associated pumps.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and electrical schematics.
- Previous experience with the VA is a plus

You will:
- 12-Hour Shift Rotation Schedule.
- Daily Operations & System Monitoring
- Monitor, operate, and control high-pressure steam boilers, hot water generators, feedwater systems, pumps, compressors, fuel systems, and water treatment equipment.
- Continuously inspect gauges, meters, automated controls (BMS/SCADA), combustion efficiency indicators, and safety relief valves throughout shifts.
- Adjust controls to maintain specified steam pressure, temperature, water levels, and fuel-air ratios, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
- Water Chemistry & Treatment
- Conduct routine sampling and testing of boiler feedwater, condensate, and cooling water.
- Working in accordance with chemical treatment programs, adjust chemical dosing pumps, and operate blowdown systems based on test results, maintaining water quality within operational limits.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Conduct routine sampling and testing of boiler feedwater, condensate, and cooling water. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on boilers, burners, pumps, valves, piping, and controls.
- Identify operational anomalies or mechanical failures; execute basic repairs and elevate complex issues per protocol.
- Isolate, Lock out / Tag out (LOTO), and prepare equipment for inspection, maintenance, or overhaul as needed.
- Compliance & Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate, detailed shift logs documenting system parameters, water quality, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.
- Report safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, environmental compliance issues, and operational incidents immediately to plant management.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations, including OSHA standards and state-specific boiler codes.
