General
Summary:
Help to provide adequate, routine, and preventative maintenance and repairs on all parish and school equipment, buildings, grounds, and vehicles to ensure safety to all persons, including staff and visitors, and to extend the life and appearance of these items.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of facility and equipment maintenance duties related to the campus.
- Operate lawn equipment, including gas powered tractors with plow and snow blowers.
- Remove snow and ice from walkways.
- Move and transport furniture and equipment, supplies and tools.
- Responsible for and perform routine maintenance on trucks, tractors, lawn equipment and tools used.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Perform regular janitorial tasks which include but are not limited to: cleaning bathrooms; dust mop or vacuum floors, rooms, and halls; window washing, and trash removal. Replenish, maintain, and repair soap and paper dispensers.
- Operate and maintain vacuum (including backpack vacuums), brooms, mops and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture etc.
- Change light bulbs.
- Contact and initiate work orders for repairs that require a licensed or skilled tradesman to perform.
- Respond to and attend to emergencies according to protocol when needed.
- Assist with cleaning and setup of facilities (including tables and chairs as requested) for meetings and events. Must work flexible schedule including occasional evening or weekend when events are held.
- Attend safety and other related meetings.
- Follow instructions regarding the use and storage of chemicals and supplies.
- Perform drywall repair and painting duties.
- Accurately order and account for all material used in position.
- Lock and unlock assigned buildings; secure building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows; report unauthorized occupants; turn off lights.
- Prioritize and complete maintenance requests in a timely manner.
- Participate in facility and equipment inspections.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of two years of experience in general building and grounds maintenance with a variety of maintenance tools, equipment, and procedures.
Required: Must have a valid driver's license. Practicing Catholic preferred.
Physical Demands: The employee must have sufficient strength, ability, and dexterity to perform required duties. While performing such duties, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must have hand strength to grasp tools; be able to bend, stoop, squat, and have the ability to climb and balance on ladders.
The employee must be capable of working from heights. The employee must be willing to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and inclement conditions. The employee must be able to move and load equipment and supplies that weigh 50 pounds or more. The employee must be able to work independently without direct supervision.
