Street Maintenance Laborer

Hourly, Non-Exempt up to $54,000

The City of Franklin is currently accepting applications for the position of Street Maintenance Laborer.

This position has been identified as heavy work, requiring an individual to be able to lift 40 lbs. for extended periods.

Individual is responsible for assisting in a variety of work duties to maintain City streets and right-a-ways to include catch basins, curbs, sidewalks, storm drains, street sweeping, tree inventory and appropriate signage.

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

• Individual will be responsible for assisting in any street maintenance responsibilities such as:
• Repairing sidewalk and street surfaces with asphalt, concrete and stone.
• Snow removal and pre-treating the street surfaces as required.
• Right of way duties such as installing and replacing signage and proper drainage ditch maintenance.
• Catch basin and storm drain maintenance and repair.
• Tree inventory, to include planting, pruning and stump removal / grinding, chipping of limbs and brush and leafing operations.
• Mosquito fogging /spraying and weed control.
• Working with Street Maintenance Supervisor, Crew Leader or Senior Street Worker to assemble and prepare equipment and tools for required work.

The individual is responsible for their personal safety and the safety of others they work alongside and will be required to attend department safety meetings and follow the department safety programs.

This position could have overtime requirements outside of the normal working hours of M-F 7:00am to 3:30pm.

Preference may be given to Individuals with prior work experience operating street maintenance equipment such as, loader/backhoe, front end loader, asphalt patcher, aerial bucket truck, catch basin cleaner, dump truck and ice/snow removal equipment. Also chain saws, concrete saws, lawn mowers, weed eaters etc.

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Valid driver’s license is required.

Current CDL preferred.
