Position: Facilities Associate -Part-time $14.00/hr - No Experience Required

Facilities Associate
-Part-time $14.00/hr

This position is responsible for performing a variety of custodial and light maintenance duties in and around FBEM facilities and ensures efficient and safe operations that comply with Feeding America & AIB/Safe food handling practices & procedures. This position will also ensure superior customer service to all internal team members and other stakeholders of the organization. All activities will support the organization's mission, culture and strategic plan objectives.

Essential functions include creating and maintaining a positive work environment, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms/bathrooms, cleaning, dusting, and wiping furniture; sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming floors, completing dusting of common areas and meeting rooms, emptying/cleaning wastebaskets and recycling containers throughout building, refilling restroom dispensers, stripping, cleaning, buffing and applying floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, using and maintaining assigned equipment and hand tools, washing walls and equipment;

using ladders and extension poles when required in work assignments, following instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies, washing windows, removing fingerprints, cleaning shades, performing cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs in areas within sixteen feet of buildings, using hand-operated tools or small power equipment, and handling cleaning and maintenance of conveyor belt, trash carts and dock plates.

Other duties and responsibilities include assisting with pest control activities and removal/resetting of traps as needed, laundering cleaning rags and dust mops, vacuuming and shampooing rugs, carpets, flooring materials as needed, and all other duties as assigned.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Experience:

Entry level, no experience necessary.

Knowledge:
Ability to read and write English and perform basic mathematical functions, ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs, with two-man lift, ability to speak clearly over the phone and walkie-talkie radio, strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce accurate work, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders, ability to work independently and as part of a team, ability to understand and comply with Feeding America & AIB/Safe Food Handling Practices & Procedures.

Working conditions include performing work in warehouse with a significant amount of walking on concrete surfaces, entrances may be open and work conditions during the summer months can be very hot, and during the winter very cold, employees may be going in and out of freezers and coolers with extreme variations in temperature, workspace could be very dusty, and on occasions can be noisy due to the traffic of motorized vehicles operating in the building, periodically may work outside and be exposed to the elements, employees may be exposed to spoiled food and sharp objects due to working with damaged products, work involves moving boxes and employees must lift up to 25-30 lbs.,

bend, stoop, pick up and move objects up to 50 pounds with the use of warehouse equipment, work involves using manual pallet jacks and therefore requires an ability to push and pull pallets over 2,000 pounds.

May be asked to work evenings and weekends due to special events and other projects related to timely and accurate warehousing and distribution of products.
