Job Summary

Perform journey-level skilled service, maintenance, and repair work on automotive and related equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform skilled preventive maintenance, repairs and adjustments on County Fleet vehicles, in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures under basic supervision.
  • Diagnose and repair components for electrical, electronic, fuel supply, hydraulics, and cooling systems.
  • Determine extent of necessary repairs, and prioritize work tasks.
  • Transport equipment from the field to the repair facility and perform emergency repairs in the field as required.
  • Review status of equipment and perform safety inspections, identify and report equipment problems requiring additional maintenance and repair, and notify supervisors of major repair problems.
  • Install and test auxiliary and specialized equipment.
  • Perform routine shop facility maintenance, clean work areas and pick up debris, dispose of lubricants and chemicals in accordance with FSD safety regulations and procedures.
  • Maintain work orders, records, and logs of services performed and general vehicle information, report any operational problems to the supervisor in a timely manner, and complete other reports as required.
  • Control work site to assure that safety rules and regulations are followed and recognize, avoid, and report safety hazards, equipment problems, repair needs, security issues, and emergency situations.
