Pay Range per CBA: $20.13/hour minimum

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 7:30 – 3:30; evenings and weekends possible with recall.
Probationary Period: 120 days

High school diploma or GED equivalent. Knowledge of position‑specific tasks (water/wastewater treatment plant and distribution/collection system maintenance, electrical equipment operations, etc.), basic mathematical calculations, and ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Strong public‑relations skills, effective interpersonal communication with co‑workers, contractors, and the general public. Ability to organize and accurately document operational information and data. Must understand and follow County safety procedures.

Physical requirements include moderate lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and bending; normal vision and hearing acuity; high manual dexterity; prolonged exposure to varying temperatures; frequent exposure to unfavorable health/safety conditions, and potential daily hazardous work. Valid driver’s license required; may need to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Performs daily operation, fundamental maintenance, and repair of all water/wastewater distribution/collection systems and components, treatment plants, sampling, and testing equipment. Operates locating equipment to identify and mark locations of water/wastewater lines and associated appurtenances. Inspects, repairs, and maintains water mains, sewer mains, pump stations, valves, storage tanks, vaults, and meters to ensure system integrity and functionality of treatment and distribution/collection infrastructure using specialty tools and equipment.

Performs smoke testing, flow analysis, main cleaning, and other routine maintenance and evaluation procedures. Operates a County vehicle and responds to various locations to read water meters. Operates county vehicles and assists in the operation of trucks, tractors, backhoes, valve operators, and other special equipment used in maintenance of treatment and distribution and collection systems. Performs maintenance and repairs on circuits, motors, pumps, switches, heaters, appliances, and electrical panels.

Repairs or replaces worn mechanical parts in pumps or motors and operates equipment to facilitate duties. Utilizes GIS and other maintenance management software to store and track work performance. Works alone or with others on short‑ or long‑term team projects to resolve problems or conflicts in any area of county operations or to complete assigned projects under the direction of a county supervisor or Department Head.

Participates in cross‑training and maintains proficiency in cross‑training area as required. Reports safety or risk management issues to immediate supervisor.
