Overview
Assists Line Technicians in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the electric distribution system and associated equipment. This is an entry-level position that provides on-the-job training and experience necessary for advancement to Line Technician
C. The individual in this role is expected to demonstrate progress in learning the skills, safety procedures, and technical knowledge required to perform higher-level line work under the guidance of experienced personnel.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent degree. The applicant must obtain a class "A" commercial driver's permit within the first six months of hire and successfully complete the CDL school to obtain License. The applicant trains to climb poles, use a chain saw and to perform pole top and bucket rescue. The applicant should have knowledge of heavy equipment operations prior to hiring.
Abilitiesand Skills
The applicant must have the skills necessary to operate a digger derrick, bucket truck, forklift, and voltmeter. Adding, copy machines and computers are also sometimes used.
serve on regular standby but assists in major storm damage under the direct supervision of an A class Line Technician.
Salary/ClassificationLine Tech A, B, & C will also be considered depending on the qualification:
Starting Salaries A: $72,947.89; B: $62,500.00; C: $48,000.00
