Job Title: Maintenance Assistant / Technician
Location: Heritage Post Acute of Florence
Position Summary:
Heritage Post Acute of Florence is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Assistant / Technician to help maintain a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning environment for our residents, visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate will perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance throughout the facility while ensuring compliance with safety standards and applicable regulations.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs to the building, resident rooms, common areas, equipment, and grounds.
- Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on facility equipment and systems.
- Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, flooring, and HVAC repairs.
- Maintain heating, cooling, lighting, and other building systems.
- Inspect the facility regularly to identify maintenance or safety concerns and report findings to the Maintenance Director or Administrator.
- Ensure walkways, parking areas, and grounds are clean, safe, and well maintained.
- Assist with room setups, furniture assembly, and moving equipment as needed.
- Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies.
- Follow infection prevention practices when working in resident care areas.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, life safety codes, and all federal, state, and facility policies.
- Assist with emergency preparedness activities, including severe weather and power outage procedures.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies in a clean and organized manner.
- Participate in required in-service training and staff meetings.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in building maintenance, skilled nursing, healthcare, or a related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to safely operate maintenance tools and equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Must be dependable, professional, and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and reaching.
