Position Summary:

Heritage Post Acute of Florence is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Assistant / Technician to help maintain a safe, comfortable, and well-functioning environment for our , visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate will perform routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance throughout the facility while ensuring compliance with safety standards and applicable regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to the building, rooms, common areas, equipment, and grounds.
  • Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on facility equipment and systems.
  • Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, flooring, and HVAC repairs.
  • Maintain heating, cooling, lighting, and other building systems.
  • Inspect the facility regularly to identify maintenance or safety concerns and report findings to the Maintenance Director or Administrator.
  • Ensure walkways, parking areas, and grounds are clean, safe, and well maintained.
  • Assist with room setups, furniture assembly, and moving equipment as needed.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies.
  • Follow infection prevention practices when working in care areas.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, life safety codes, and all federal, state, and facility policies.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness activities, including severe weather and power outage procedures.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies in a clean and organized manner.
  • Participate in required in-service training and staff meetings.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED .
  • Previous experience in building maintenance, skilled nursing, healthcare, or a related field .
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be dependable, professional, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and reaching.
