Lee County is seeking dependable and safety-focused Operations Technicians to join our Solid Waste team. In this role, you will help keep our community clean and environmentally responsible by supporting daily operations at our compost and solid waste facilities.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in equipment operation and maintenance, and wants a stable career in public service that makes a real difference every day.
What You Will Do- Operate heavy and light equipment safely and efficiently
- Handle and process materials at compost and solid waste facilities
- Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and housekeeping tasks
- Maintain daily logs and regulatory records using electronic devices
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physical labor
- Act as crew leader when the supervisor is away
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- High School Diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1 year of experience in equipment operation, facility maintenance, or a related field
- This position is safety-sensitive and is subject to Drug and Alcohol Workplace Testing as provided in DOT regulation 49
CFR-Parts 40 and/or 382.
- Must have a Class B Commercial Learner’s Permit and an acceptable driving record
- Must obtain a Class B CDL with Air Brakes and Tanker endorsement within four (4) months of hire
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM. Additional hours may be required during emergencies
