Our Parks, Recreation & Natural Resources team is seeking a Maintenance Technician in support of our Athletic Fields and Facilities. In this role, you'll ensure the fields are in pristine condition for both our residents and visitors. The pay starts at $18.21 (step

In this role, you will...

• Perform general grounds maintenance, repair, and janitorial duties of fields, fencing, common areas, amenities, parking lots, and other areas.
• Provide polite, friendly, and accurate customer service.
• Conduct park patrols and general inspections of athletic facilities to ensure the safety of the public.
• Contribute to the decision-making process on the feasibility of playing on the field, depending on weather and field conditions.
• Assist with set-up and clean-up of facilities for practices, games, tournaments, and events.
• Ensure proper maintenance, watering, mowing, edging, trimming, and painting of athletic grounds.
• Exercise a high degree of initiative and decision-making to ensure customer satisfaction.

• Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
• Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• As a reminder, all county employees are considered essential and must be prepared to protect and support the community and its citizens. Each employee, without exception, will have a duty assignment and be required to work during a disaster or declared emergency.

• A High School Diploma orits equivalent.
• One-year of experience as asemi-skilled laborer in the care and maintenance of parks, landscapes, athletic fields, or other similar grounds.
• Possession of a valid Florida Class E License, or higher Commercial Driver’s License at the time of hire.

• General knowledge of methods and techniques, of prepping and maintaining athletic field turf and adjunct facilities.
• General operation and maintenance of machines, power equipment, and hand tools. Operates mowers and other types of field maintenance equipment.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under hot and humid conditions.

Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
