Location: Mayport

Summary

This position is responsible for the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, and related fixtures and utilities for the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department at Naval Station Mayport.

Duties
  • Plumbing:

    Make plumbing repairs such as removing, cleaning, resealing, or replacing defective parts or units of utility, supply, and disposal systems (e.g., dirty traps, broken tile, damaged pipe, leaky faucets, stopped drains), and install water heaters, garbage disposals, faucets, and sinks.

  • Carpentry:

    Measure, cut, and construct or repair wood or wood‑substitute items such as scaffolds, staging parts, panels, bins, pallets, concrete forms, drywall, sheathing, and roof decking.

  • Painting:

    Perform standard coating methods (brushing, rolling, spraying) using materials prepared according to specific directions to ensure surfaces are fully coated, protected, and free from drips and runs.

  • Observe required safety, sanitation, and hazardous waste disposal rules and regulations.

  • Operate vehicles to transport tools and materials to work sites.

Requirements

Performs other related duties as required.

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successfully complete a background investigation using fingerprint identification and background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass an E‑Verify employment verification check; any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I‑9.
  • May be required to pass pre‑employment examinations.
  • A valid State driver’s license is required to operate motor vehicles.
  • Must have salary sent to a financial institution of choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Work requires prolonged standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Work requires lifting, carrying, and setting up materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds, and occasionally handling materials and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Work is performed both inside and outside; incumbent is exposed to dirt, paint vapors, and fumes. Must wear issued protective gear.
Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. All non‑government positions identified on your resume must include complete address and dates. Government positions must include pay plan, series, grade, dates, and agency address.

Specialized Experience
  • Two years of experience that demonstrates knowledge in the applicable combination of trades sufficient to perform the duties of the position.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part‑time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. As part of the application process, you must complete and submit an occupational questionnaire and ensure your resume supports and validates your answers.
