This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. It supports manufacturing and supply chain activities across all Blue Origin facilities.
Join the Jarvis team, Blue Origin’s premier fabrication and development group focusing on welding & fabrication, machining, final integration, and testing of large tooling, landing platforms, and other launch infrastructure that will enable us to build the foundation for a road to space. This position certifies the welds for the team.
Qualifications- Must have Certified Welding Inspector certification (CWI) with minimum 5 years’ experience.
- Experience with welding processes: GTAW, FCAW, SMAW.
- Extensive knowledge of NDT processes including VT, PT, MT.
- Experience inspecting and working in accordance with national fabrication codes and standards (AWS D17.1, ASME BPVC Section IX, B31.1, B31.3, AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.6, D14.0, etc.).
- Experience upholding shop fabrication requirements established in codes and standards for code compliant fabrication.
- Experience in welder performance qualification tasks.
- Ability to learn, grow and tackle new challenges in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and task ownership; pride in all work and willingness to perform low‑level tasks when needed.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle small and large projects with internal and external customers.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position.
- Must be available to work all required shift hours, including overtime and weekends, as needed.
- Must be willing to travel 25% of the time.
- Must be able to work at heights and confined spaces.
- Experience in large assembly / tooling fabrication.
- Experience developing weld maps to track inspections completed on large assemblies throughout fabrication.
- Experience with manufacturing drawing review and robust understanding of welding symbols.
- Ability and willingness to train cross‑functional engineering teams on welding requirements and weldment design.
- Experience with carbon and stainless steels, aluminum alloys, Ni‑based alloys, or other aerospace materials.
- Experience in hardware manufacturing processes (mechanized welding, machining, cleaning, non‑destructive testing, tight tolerance assembly, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware).
- Experience supporting design and manufacturing teams in an aerospace environment, including preparing specifications, test reports, and design substantiation documentation.
