Job Summary
Under direct supervision, this position performs custodial services for the College at the assigned location. Responsibilities include cleaning and minor maintenance of buildings externally and internally. Areas to be cleaned include classrooms, hallways, stairwells, restrooms, walls, carpets, floors, doors, light fixtures, entrance areas, cigarette and trash receptacles, classroom and dining tables, chairs, windows and glass panes. The custodian also assists with the set-up of furniture for special events as needed.
Responsibilities- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean windows and light fixtures.
- Empty trash, wipe whiteboards, dust desks, window sills, and baseboards.
- Clean classrooms, offices, hallways, stairwells, entrance areas, and public areas.
- Sanitize restrooms and café areas.
- Use a bucket truck to clean higher windows and perform minor repairs.
- Scrub, wax, and buff floors and clean and shampoo carpets.
- Check and replenish paper and supplies.
- Promote a safe work environment.
- Move, rearrange furniture, set up banquet tables, and clean up after events.
- Pick up trash and deliver garbage bags to dumpsters.
- Perform various projects as assigned.
- Politely assist faculty and students with directions and general campus information.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred).
- One year of related work experience performing general cleaning tasks or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid Florida driver's license.
- Completed training in Bloodborne Pathogens, CPR, and Bleeding Control Basics.
- Proficient with custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, scrubbers, mops, and other cleaning devices.
- Ability to work positively, cooperatively, and supportively as part of a custodial team.
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Self-starter with flexibility for daily assignment changes and minimal supervision.
The role requires the ability to operate cleaning equipment and to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods. Lifting, reaching, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, handling powered custodial equipment, and occasionally carrying items exceeding 50 pounds are expected. The employee must be in good physical condition to perform these tasks.
