Job Summary

The Custodian will maintain an attractive, sanitary and safe facility for students, staff and public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events; performing minor repairs and preventive maintenance; and minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Valid Florida Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
Satisfactory criminal background check.
Prior custodial experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Knowledge of Human Resource leave system and Skyward inventory system (if applicable).
Ability to function as a member of a harmonious, efficient, and highly productive team; use problem solving and interpersonal skills.
Maintain high degree of initiative and dependability.

Reports To

Head Custodian, Principal or Department Director

Performance Responsibilities

Serve as a role model for students, dressing and grooming professionally.

Arrange furnishings and equipment for meetings, classroom activities, and special events.

Clean assigned facilities, removing graffiti, etc.

Complete required training to maintain current knowledge of regulations and policies.

Distribute supplies and equipment to appropriate parties.

Execute minor repairs such as assembling furniture, changing ballast, etc.

Inform students, staff, and visitors of safety information.

Inspect facilities to ensure suitability and report necessary repairs.

Maintain supplies and equipment.

Oversee students assigned to cafeteria or other duties.

Assist with special projects.

Prepare facility for daily operations.

Assist in scheduling facility usage.

Respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns.

Secure facilities and grounds to minimize damage and liability.

Perform all other duties assigned by administrators.

Physical Requirements

Heavy work:
Exert up to 100 pounds occasionally; up to 50 pounds frequently; up to 20 pounds as needed to move objects.

Terms of Employment

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District: 12 or 10 months; 8 or 4 hours per day.
