Custodian – Vineland Elementary (Charlotte County Public Schools, Rotonda West, Florida)

Starting Date: Immediately

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $17.50 per hour

• Ability and willingness to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to relate well to children, other staff members, and the public.
• Knowledge of the materials, methods, equipment, and practices used in cleaning and minor repair operations.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

• Participates in the general cleaning and maintenance of the facility.
• Makes minor repairs and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment as prescribed.
• Follows security and safety procedures for students, staff, and visitors.
• Reports maintenance/repair needs to the Custodial Crew Leader/Administrator.
• Collects and disposes of refuse; facilitates others’ daily disposal of recyclable materials.
• Dusts and cleans furniture.
• Vacuums, dry mops, sweeps, wet mops, strips, waxes, and polishes floors per SREF standards.
• Cleans and washes windows, mirrors, walls, whiteboards, desks, sinks, toilets, and other soiled areas.
• Moves furniture or equipment safely with proper equipment.
• Maintains clean walkways, driveways, playgrounds, etc.
• Replaces light bulbs, fluorescent lamps, and soiled ceiling tiles as needed.
• Sets up and cleans facility after community use.
• Communicates with the Custodial Crew Leader to maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Attends job-related workshops and training programs.
• Assembles furniture and equipment.
• Works additional hours upon reasonable request.
• Maintains effective relationships with students, employees, and visitors.
• Performs other job-related functions assigned by the building administrator.
