Job Summary The Maintenance Supervisor is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing and managing the overall operations of the maintenance team across all Sarasota Housing Authority (SHA) locations. This role requires a highly skilled professional with proven management experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity, strong leadership qualities, and exceptional customer service skills. The Maintenance Supervisor ensures that all maintenance activities are conducted efficiently and effectively while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to communicate clearly with staff and residents, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Participate in the hiring process by interviewing candidates for maintenance positions and making hiring recommendations.
Education/Certification Requirements
Person must have a high school diploma or GED, and an Associate’s degree is preferable. Master certification in plumbing, electrical, or HVAC preferred, but Journeyman certification is required.
Experience Requirements
10+ years of building or apartment maintenance work, including a minimum of 5 years as a proven manager leading multi-site teams.
Qualifications
This position requires a valid Florida driver’s license, the ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening, able to lift up to 50 pounds, be able to drive a pickup truck or van, and be insurable under the agency’s auto insurance policy.
