General Handyman Position Summary
Paradise Christian School & Development Center has proudly served our community for over 44 years and is seeking a dependable, hardworking General Handyman to join our Paradise family. This position is responsible for helping maintain a safe, clean, attractive, and well‑maintained environment for children, families, staff, and visitors.
EssentialJob Duties
- Perform general building and property maintenance.
- Complete minor repairs including painting, carpentry, basic plumbing, and general handyman work.
- Maintain classrooms, offices, playgrounds, and outdoor areas.
- Landscape, mow, edge, trim, weed, rake, and blow walkways and grounds.
- Pressure wash buildings, sidewalks, playgrounds, and other exterior areas.
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain assigned work areas and equipment.
- Assemble furniture, playground equipment, and other items as needed.
- Move furniture, equipment, and supplies.
- Perform preventive maintenance and identify repairs before they become major issues.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance/storage area.
- Complete maintenance logs and reports in English.
- Follow all school safety procedures, CDC recommendations, Florida DCF regulations, and Health Department requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid Florida Driver's License required.
- Experience in general maintenance, facilities, construction, or handyman work.
- Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and general repair techniques.
- Basic knowledge of painting, carpentry, plumbing, landscaping, and facility maintenance.
- Must be able to read and understand basic English for manuals, labels, and safety instructions.
- Must be organized, dependable, and able to work independently.
- Positive attitude with the ability to work well as part of a team (we work as a family).
- Must be able to work safely around young children and follow all safety procedures.
- Must successfully pass an FDLE Level II Background Screening.
- Must possess or obtain the Florida DCF 45‑Hour Child Care Training Certification within 30 days of hire.
- Must successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screening.
- Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, climb ladders, and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must have a flexible work schedule.
- Full‑Time (40 hours per week).
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday: 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Tuesday: 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
