Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician maintains the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:

Assist with all repairs, refurbishing projects (including trim and cabinet carpentry, drywall repair, painting, plumbing, light electrical, demolition, clearing and stocking of materials for unit), and furniture/equipment moving.
Maintain the facility grounds.
Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
Perform preventive maintenance inspections and tasks as scheduled.
Ensure maintenance supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary.
Ensure that the facility and its equipment are properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience.
Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as possible.
Ensure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift.
Assist with safety inspections, tests, and drills, as requested.

Secondary Responsibilities

Every incidental duty connected with the Maintenance Technician position cannot be specified in the job description. The incumbent, at the discretion of the Director of Building Services, may be required to perform duties that are not included in this job description.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is required to stand for long periods of time, and must be able to bend, squat, reach over shoulders, stand on 6-foot ladder, lift up to 40 pounds and move up to 200 pounds with assistance of others or special equipment.

Educational/Professional Qualifications

High School diploma/equivalent.
Two years’ experience as a building trade helper, apprentice or equivalent preferred.

Required

Able to work independently as required, but with the ability to be part of a team and be detail oriented.
Demonstrates excellent customer service, communication and time management skills.
Able to respond to emergencies in a timely manner.

Day Shift

8 hours per day and 40 hours per week
