Chess Coach

The Wiz Kids Foundation is seeking enthusiastic chess coaches to provide instruction to students entering grades 5-8. We are seeking coaches with a positive attitude and enthusiasm for participating in a positive, upbeat, and challenging summer program.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a Chess Coach.
• Strong understanding of chess strategies and rules.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
• Ability to analyze players' performances and provide feedback.
• Passion for chess and teaching.
• Ability to work with players of all ages and skill levels.
• Willingness to keep up-to-date with the latest chess strategies and techniques.
• Positive attitude and ability to foster a competitive environment.

• Teaching players about chess strategies and rules
• Mentoring players and helping them improve their skills
• Assume responsibility for the care of materials, equipment and facilities
• Assume responsibility for a neat, safe environment for students and be committed to their care
• Practice and promote positive interaction with and among students
• Ensure the welfare of campers and positive resolution of camper-related issues by communicating clearly and consistently with camp leadership staff
• Encourage self-direction and self-motivation in students.
• Willingness to comply with suspected child abuse reporting (Subsection (a)(6) of 325 ILCS 5-4)
• Additional duties as contracted

Chess instruction will be conducted in typical indoor classroom environments at assigned locations.

Camp runs Monday through Friday, June through August. Specific working hours will be established once the final candidate is selected.

This is an hourly contracted position. Wiz Kids Foundation will present the selected candidate with a competitive contracted rate. Contract agreement is subject to a comprehensive background check.
