Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Flossmoor, Illinois

Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming  school year. This contract opportunity offers you the chance to make a direct impact by working 1:1 with a high school student, providing communication access and daily support in the classroom. The position runs Monday through Friday, 9am to 2pm, allowing for a favorable work-life balance and flexibility within a close-knit educational environment.

• EIPA score of 3.5 or higher required
• Experience in K-12 or high school settings preferred
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Understanding of educational interpreting in a school setting
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
• Excellent reliability and professionalism

• Interpret classroom discussions, instructions, and activities for a high school student
• Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers
• Adapt interpreting approaches based on the students needs and classroom dynamics
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to best practices for educational interpreters
• Collaborate with teaching staff and support professionals as needed
• Support the students participation in extracurricular or school-sponsored events during assigned hours
