Job Title
Installs, repairs, fabricates, and maintains all types of signs and markings in accordance with Town, state, and federal standards. Performs maintenance on equipment used within the division and complete work orders according to Town policy.
Incentive ProgramsPublic Works is currently hiring for several essential positions that play a critical role in maintaining the Town's infrastructure. To help fill these important vacancies, the Town has approved both a Sign-On Incentive Program and an Employee Referral Incentive Program.
Sign-On Incentive – $1,500
The $1,500 Sign-On Incentive is available for newly hired Public Works employees (excluding Administrative Staff).
Key details:
- Paid on the employee's first paycheck following hire.
- Limited to one sign-on incentive per employee while the program is in effect.
- Employees who leave Town employment within 90 days must repay $750.
- Incentives are paid through payroll and are subject to applicable taxes.
Employee Referral Incentive – $1,500

For eligible Public Works positions (excluding Administrative Staff), employees may receive:
- $500 when the referred employee is hired.
- $1,000 after the referred employee successfully completes six months of employment.
- $1,500 total incentive.
Additional information:
- Applicants must identify the referring employee on their employment application for the referral to qualify.
- Incentives are paid through payroll and are subject to applicable taxes.
- Installs, repairs, maintains, and fabricates all regulatory, warning, construction, guide, and special signs in accordance with the Texas Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD) and Federal Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
- Completes daily reports on all field activities, dispatched calls, work orders, service requests, and provides information for cost analysis reports utilizing Cityworks™ computer work order system.
- Performs layout procedures for pavement markings such as thermoplastic, paint, and buttons; includes preparation work, e.g., grinding and sealer application; and applies to roadways using epoxy, approved adhesives, or applicable markings equipment.
- Sets out work zone for job site in accordance with the TMUTCD and MUTCD.
- Programs and deploys traffic counters, changeable message boards, and radar trailers, as necessary.
- Performs turning movement counts utilizing hand counter, as necessary.
- Constructs and installs traffic barricades at appropriate locations.
- Trims trees that are obstructing traffic signs.
- Utilizes the Standard Highway Sign Designs for Texas manual to fabricate signs.
- Identifies and reports visibility obstructions that pose traffic hazards.
- Maintains stock levels on trucks and restocks, as necessary.
- Maintains an inventory of maintenance and operational supplies, tools, equipment, etc., and services on a routine basis.
- Performs vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicle and equipment.
- Informs supervisor of potential hazards, problem areas, citizen inquires, and all work activities.
- May be required to assist the Traffic Signals subdivision in the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of traffic signals.
- May be required to assist with special events in the areas of traffic control.
- Adheres to the personnel, safety, and department policies and procedures.
- Perform emergency on-call duty.
- Assists other coworkers as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
- Must possess a valid state-issued Class "C" drivers license.
- Must be able to obtain a valid Texas Class "A" Commercial Driver's License, with proper endorsements and without restrictions, within six (6) months from the date of hire. Your driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.
- Must obtain International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Signs & Pavement Markings Technician Level I certification within one (1) year of employment.
