Job DescriptionPublic Works is currently hiring for several essential positions that play a critical role in maintaining the Town's infrastructure. To help fill these important vacancies, the Town has approved both a Sign-On Incentive Program and an Employee Referral Incentive Program.
Sign-On Incentive – $1,500
The $1,500 Sign-On Incentive is available for newly hired Public Works employees (excluding Administrative Staff).
Key details:
- Paid on the employee's first paycheck following hire.
- Limited to one sign-on incentive per employee while the program is in effect.
- Employees who leave Town employment within 90 days must repay $750.
- Incentives are paid through payroll and are subject to applicable taxes.
Employee Referral Incentive – $1,500

For eligible Public Works positions (excluding Administrative Staff), employees may receive:
- $500 when the referred employee is hired.
- $1,000 after the referred employee successfully completes six months of employment.
- $1,500 total incentive.

Under general supervision, serves as a first-line, working supervisor leading a maintenance crew in daily water distribution, wastewater collection, and other water utility maintenance tasks.
Examples Of Duties- Oversees the day-to-day work activities of work crew within the Utility Services Division to include training, assigning work tasks, and monitoring and inspecting the work of crew; and provides direction and guidance in work tasks.
- Assists, as directed, in performing job interviews, counseling employees, preparing performance evaluations, setting employee goals and objectives, and training new employees.
- Performs continual inspections of operational, personnel functions, and activities to identify any inefficiencies and ineffectiveness and makes recommendations to management for corrective workable solutions.
- Trains work crew in the safe and proper operation of equipment and tools, performing job tasks, and ensures work crew wears appropriate safety equipment.
- Instructs crew in the proper and most expedient method to accomplish assignments.
- Ensures employees' conduct daily vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance (including washing, checking, and servicing) of all equipment and vehicles.
- Identifies and reports hazards and liability exposures and immediately takes action for corrective measures.
- Makes special reports and recommendations to the supervisor as needed.
- Recommends items, supplies, tools, equipment, and other material needed for water operations.
- Assists supervisor in determining purchasing needs for upcoming projects and secures price quotes for purchase of equipment, supplies, materials, etc.
- Informs supervisor of potential hazards, problem areas, public inquiries, and the status of other work activities.
- Performs the duties of utility laborers, tasks to include constructing, maintaining, and replacing water or sewer mains and/or service lines; inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing failures in water and sewer mains; building and adjusting manholes and clean-outs; installing fire hydrants and valves; preparing trenches; and rodding and cleaning sewer lines.
- Adheres to personnel, safety, and department policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
- A Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Grade "C" Water Distribution License is required by date of hire.
- Must be able to obtain a valid Texas Class "A" Commercial Driver's License, with proper endorsements and without restrictions, within six (6) months from the date of hire. Your driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.
- Must have two (2) or more years of water utility maintenance and distribution work experience and one (1) year of supervisory or leading a work crew experience.
