The Department of Transportation, Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is currently hiring a Consumer Protection Investigator position within the Bureau of Vehicle Services, Dealer and Agent Section!
This position offers a hybridized work schedule. The position will be headquartered at and required to work in Waukesha, WI located at 141 NW Barstow Street or Fond du Lac, WI located at 833 S. Rolling Meadows Drive at least 2 days per week. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are generally expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin.

Position SummaryThis position performs investigations and inspection work to ensure compliance of state laws and Department rules by motor vehicle dealers, motor vehicle salvage dealers, wholesale auction dealers, motor vehicle manufacturers, motor vehicle wholesale dealers, motor vehicle distributors, salespersons, bid card holders, and their respective representatives. This position also plans detailed investigations to resolve complaints and correct violations. This position also may work with law enforcement officials on motor vehicle trade practice regulations and complex schemes involving title and salvage fraud.
This position will be hired at the entry, senior, or advanced level, depending on qualifications.
Salary InformationStarting salary for the Consumer Protection Investigator (pay schedule-range 05-13) is $25.54/hr ; for Senior (pay schedule-range 05-14) is $27.62/hr ; for Advanced (pay schedule-range 05-15) is $29.88/hr . Pay is set depending on qualifications. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan.
This state agency does not sponsor work visas. This state agency is not enrolled in USCIS E-Verify and is not eligible to employ international F-1 students seeking STEM-OPT extension. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

This position requires frequent travel on an independent basis throughout an assigned region of the state and occasionally throughout the state.
