Work Schedule:
Either front half or back half days | 6am-6pm or 6pm-6am

Senior Critical Facility Engineer

The Senior Critical Facility Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center operate at peak efficiency and the utmost levels of reliability. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and response to emergency issues. The Senior Critical Facility Engineer is our front line when it comes to hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting.

They are expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations within a given data center. Data center equipment that supports mission‑critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. This equipment includes, but is not limited to standby diesel generators, related fuel systems, electrical switch gear, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, related thermal management equipment and systems, chemical treatment systems (where applicable), pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Critical Facility Engineers in daily operations and maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Maintain focus on assigned tasks while ensuring a strong commitment to safety.
  • Operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot critical facility systems.
  • Complete preventive and corrective maintenance activities across multiple technical disciplines.
  • Inspect and maintain HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Respond to facility emergencies, environmental issues, and air quality concerns.
  • Create, track, and close work requests and work orders; verify completion of assigned work.
  • Monitor contractor performance and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Provide electrical, mechanical, controls, and water chemistry expertise for data center operations.
  • Coordinate with management, contractors, and consultants on construction, commissioning, and system integration projects.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs and system commissioning activities.
  • Drive operational efficiency through performance analysis, technology improvements, and cost‑saving initiatives.
  • Manage electrical capacity and loading for data center white space and back‑of‑house systems.
