Major Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, design, develop CNC manufacturing process for current and future components production as well as production of tooling.
- Design processes and equipment related to the manufacturing of products or services that are cost effective at approved levels of quality and within quoted specifications.
- Implement process designs, creating prototypes, testing, making necessary modifications where required.
- Assess safety requirements and ensure these are integrated into the process.
- Work closely with other professionals on development and research projects.
- Integrate new technology or environmentally friendly practices into existing processes.
- Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in the field.
- Develop and conduct training programs on the safe operations of the equipment, and demonstrate skills to trainees, including both team members and customers.
- Negotiate price, terms, and conditions with outside suppliers used to meet project needs.
- Develop models of alternate processing methods to test feasibility of new applications of system components and recommend implementation of improved procedures.
- Provide detailed documentation of a job including tool and fixture drawings, definition of setup, and operational procedures.
- A solid foundation in engineering concepts is a vital Process Engineer requirement.
- Knowledge of the product or services and the industry in which he/she is operating.
- Familiarity with OSHA and EPA principles.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as a keen attention to detail.
- Project management, leadership and teamwork skills are important to ensure that all factors come together to complete an assignment on time.
- Experience requirements vary according to job requirements and industry. Certifications may include Professional Engineer Licence (P.Eng), Certified Professional Engineer (PE), Six Sigma qualifications and Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Automotive manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Proficient with Auto Cad or similar programs.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related science field.
Problem Solving- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness; generates suggestions for improving work; develops innovative approaches and ideas; presents ideas and information in a manner that gets others' attention.
