Summary
The Director of Technology provides leadership for the district's technology vision and daily technology functions in support of instruction, operations, business services, cybersecurity, and equitable access. The position is responsible for long-term planning, infrastructure, enterprise systems, data services, staff leadership, budgeting, vendor coordination, and compliance. In partnership with district and school leaders, the Director ensures technology systems and services are dependable, secure, effective, and aligned to the needs of students and staff.

Minimum Required Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following required education, skills, experience, and/or qualifications. Employees are responsible for obtaining and maintaining all current statutory and administrative rule requirements applicable to the position.

• Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Educational Technology, or a related field from an accredited college or university required.



Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years of successful leadership or administrative experience involving network systems, information systems, or electronic data systems, preferably in an educational environment.

• Demonstrated experience leading technology planning, supervising systems and services, and supporting operations in a complex organization, preferably in a K 12 district.

• Demonstrated ability to lead personnel, oversee budgets and projects, and communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications
It is desired that the successful candidate possesses the following additional skills, experience, certifications, and qualifications. These are preferred and are not required for consideration.

• Master's degree or other advanced degree in a technology-related field

• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate administrative endorsement

• General Administrative endorsement, Principal endorsement, or similar administrative credential

• Illinois Qualified Evaluator certification

• Educational Technology Leader Certification (CETL or comparable)

• Supervisory experience overseeing professional and support personnel

• Experience delivering training in administrative and instructional applications of technology

• Progressive experience with education-related technology systems and tools

• Experience collaborating with diverse internal and external stakeholders

• Experience in business administration, management, transportation, logistics, or related operational functions

• Strong writing, speaking, presentation, analytical, and relationship-building skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*
Leadership, Strategy, and Planning

• Set and advance the district's vision for technology and create a long-range plan aligned with district priorities, instructional objectives, and operational needs.

• Guide district wide technology planning, prioritization, and progress review in collaboration with district and building leaders, teachers, and staff.

• Ensure department work supports the Superintendent's strategic priorities and promotes efficient and effective use of district resources.

• Review emerging technologies, industry developments, and best practices, and recommend practical solutions that are sustainable and cost-conscious.

• Stay informed on current research, trends, legal obligations, and important developments in educational and operational technology through continued professional learning.
