Internship​/Externship Rotation

Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

* Performing mental health assessments of referred clients: interviewing clients and significant individuals and collateral contacts.

* Assessing clients' needs and developing appropriate goals for services.

* Providing individual and group psychotherapy.

* Participating in supervision, team meetings and in-service training sessions.

* Collaboration with other social service agencies, schools, hospitals, courts, probation, corrections, and public mental health organizations to make referrals or obtain case-related information.

* Collaboration with caseworkers assigned to client or client's family to discuss progress of client and obtain case related information.

* Maintaining supportive documentation of case file, including written reports, case-notes and other paperwork related to the case within established time frames.

* Learning new knowledge through participation in facility sponsored training and supervision.

Work Environment:
This position requires direct contact with clients. CPI and physical intervention techniques with clients are required.

* Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary setting

* Demonstrates sensitivity to special populations and ability to interface with the community

* Ability to learn and use crisis prevention and behavioral management techniques that may include restraining clients.

* Understands trauma-informed practice

* Effective verbal and written communication skills.

* Ability to work both independently and a part of a high functioning team.

* Experience and ability to use computers for data entry, communication and report writing
