POSITION
JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE:
Evening School Social Worker
NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1
RATE OF PAY: $40 PER HOUR
HOURS:
4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
REPORTS TO:
Deputy Superintendent for School Improvement
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Experience or Training
* Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Worker endorsement
* Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university
* Previous experience working with high school students
Desired Experience or Training
* Previous high school experience
* Social-emotional intervention experience
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
PLANNING AND PREPARATION
* Demonstrate knowledge of school social work theory, practices, and techniques.
* Demonstrate knowledge of child and adolescent development.
* Establish goals for social work services appropriate to the setting and the students served.
* Demonstrate knowledge of state and federal regulations and resources, both within and beyond the school and district.
* Plan social work services that are integrated with the regular school program, including crisis prevention, intervention, and response.
* Develop methods to evaluate services and communicate relevant findings.
THE ENVIRONMENT (OFFICE/SMALL GROUP ENVIRONMENT)
* Create an environment of respect and rapport.
* Establish a culture for productive communication.
* Manage routines and procedures.
* Establish standards of conduct and contribute to a culture that supports positive student behavior and achievement throughout the school.
* Organize physical space conducive to productive work with students.
DELIVERY OF SERVICE
* Assess student social-emotional, behavioral, and educational needs.
* Assist students, families, teachers, and other school personnel in addressing barriers that may impact student academic success.
* Provide appropriate social-emotional interventions and support to students individually and in small-group settings.
* Broker and coordinate school and community resources to meet student needs.
* Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to student needs.

* Reflect on professional practice.
* Maintain accurate records and submit required documentation in a timely manner.
* Communicate appropriately and regularly with families.
* Participate in a professional community.
* Engage in professional development.
* Demonstrate professionalism, including integrity, advocacy, and maintaining confidentiality.
* Cooperate and work collaboratively with other educational personnel.
* Perform promptly the responsibilities stipulated in Board of Education policies and administrative procedures.
* Be punctual in arrival times to the building and to required meetings and activities.
* Follow all District procedures related to student attendance, safety, confidentiality, and reporting.
* Implement recommendations made in the evaluation and supervisory process.
