Parks Caretaker/Aquatics Specialist

The City of Fort Atkinson is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team. The Parks Caretaker/Aquatics Specialist position plays a key role in maintaining and operating the City’s 350,000‑gallon pool at the Aquatic Center, a valued regional asset that enhances the quality of life in the community.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will oversee daily operations, requiring keen attention to detail, sound judgment, and planning skills for both daily operations and long‑term facility needs. The role is essential for maintaining clean, safe, and inviting public spaces, with a primary focus on pool operations and water quality management to ensure the facility runs smoothly and complies with all safety and regulatory standards.

As a member of the Parks and Recreation team, the employee also participates in a wide variety of park maintenance tasks across the city’s 15 parks.

Qualifications
Experience in testing and maintaining water quality, strong working knowledge of tools, equipment, and methods used in park and facility maintenance. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification required, or the ability to obtain certification within ten months of hire. Attention to detail, dependability, and willingness to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Compensation & Benefits
This is a full‑time, non‑exempt position with a hiring range of $23.54 to $29.42/hour, and a full wage range of $23.54 to $35.31/hour. Full wage range with overtime and comp time opportunities. Benefits include 80 hours of vacation (prorated from start), 10 holidays, sick leave, 2 personal days, Wisconsin Retirement System, health, dental, vision, life insurance, and deferred compensation options.
