Position
Description:
A general foreman is responsible for ensuring that everything goes smoothly on the construction site. They are responsible for being the point of contact between the foreman and project superintendents. A few of the main duties of a general foreman are ensuring a safe work environment, leading tasks for the day, creating schedules for workers, overseeing quality of the site, and managing the budget.
General Foreman also report the progress of the project to the superintendent. This is a safety sensitive position.
Essential Duties:
• Coordinate tasks according to priorities and plans
• Produce schedules and monitor attendance of crew
• Allocate general and daily responsibilities and ensure appropriate safety plans and training is in place. Verify AHA's and daily STA's are being done.
• Active participation in our SAFE Program.
• Participate in weekly safety meetings and conduct weekly toolbox talks
• Verify that materials, tools, equipment are used properly and in safe operating condition
• Supervise and train workers and tradespeople
• Ensure manpower and resources are adequate
• Guarantee all safety precautions and quality standards are met
• Supervise the use of machinery and equipment
• Monitor expenditure and ensure it remains within budget
• Resolve problems when they arise
• Report on progress to the superintendent
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Position
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Follow safe work practices in accordance with the Hensel Phelps safety and health program.
• Must be able to take initiative.
• Possess a keen attention to detail and be able to follow instructions.
• Experience using assorted power tools and hand tools, including ten-pound sledgehammers, shovels, picks, handsaws, skill saws, and drills.
• Must provide their own safety footwear.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally.
• Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.
• Must be reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experienced in construction layout, blueprint reading and shop drawing reading.
• OSHA 10 Certification
• CPR & First Aid Certification.
Physical Work Classification & Demands:
• Heavy Work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
