Custodian III
Facilities Management is entrusted with the development, care, maintenance, and operation of Colorado State University's physical properties. Our purpose is to create and sustain environments that support CSU's land-grant mission, fostering the success of students, faculty, and staff through world-class academic, research, and outreach programs.
The custodian III exists to supervise one custodian II, and up to 15 custodian I's to assist in the delivery of custodial services to building occupants by serving in the capacity of a work leader directing and monitoring the work.
Job DutiesThis position exists to supervise a team of up to fifteen Custodian I's and one Lead Custodian (Custodian II) responsible for delivering custodial services to building occupants.
Line/Staff Authority (Supervision)Position directly supervises one Custodian II position and up to fifteen Custodian I positions.
Conditions of Employment- Pre-employment Criminal and Motor Vehicle Background Check (required for new hires)

- Driver's license required
- Essential Services Designation:
Required to report without delay or interruption to provide essential or emergency services to ensure health, safety, and welfare of the campus community - Shift Work
- On-call Status:
May be called in outside of normal hours to assist with snow removal or flood clean-up. - In-person
To be considered for this position, candidates must demonstrate in the application materials:
- Two (2) years of relevant experience providing cleaning services for a commercial custodial employer.
The highly desired candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, personal characteristics, and experience directly related and critical to this position:
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to teach and lead subordinate Custodians.
- Experience leading by example, understanding how to motivate others and committed to the success of their employees and seek opportunities to mentor and develop employees
- Communication – they communicate clear and concise information in a professional and honest manner through strong written composition and related tools
- Three or more years of custodial experience within an institutional environment (i.e. school system, higher education, office building, hospitality, manufacturing, etc.)
- Computer skills such as:
Ability to utilize computers and other electronic mobile devices (phones, tablets) for business needs and team communication and data entry (enter and retrieve information on computer platforms - Operate and maintain custodial equipment
- Directly related state service experience.
