Lead Capital Equipment Technician

Position Overview:

The Lead Capital Equipment Technician serves as the senior technical resource for theRPS technician team, ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance ofVelo3D’smetal additive manufacturing equipment.

This position provides day-to-day technical leadership by mentoring technicians, training new employees, coordinating maintenance priorities, and supporting production to maximize printer uptime and on-time delivery.

The Lead Technician performs advanced troubleshooting and repairs across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software-controlled systems while helpingallocateteam resources and ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, andin accordance with company standards. This position works cross-functionally tomaintainequipment readiness and minimize production downtime.

• Provide day-to-day technical leadership for theRPS technician team.

• Mentorand train new and junior techniciansonequipment operation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and safe work practices.

• Help prioritize daily activities andallocateresources based on production needs and equipment status.

• Ensure assigned maintenance activities are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule.

• Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of Velo3D additive manufacturing systems, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, cooling, motion control, and process systems.

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and availability.

• Diagnose complex equipment failures and determine appropriate corrective actions.

• Assist technicians in resolving complex equipment issues and provide technical guidance during repairs.

• Support production by ensuring maintenance activities minimize equipment downtime and maintain printer availability.

• Create, update, andmaintainwork orders, maintenance records, equipment logs, and service documentation.

• Ensure maintenance documentation is complete,accurate, and supports future troubleshooting efforts.

• Verify spare parts, consumables, and maintenance materials are available to support planned work.

• Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), PPE, and company safety procedures.

• Identify recurring equipment issues and communicate recommendations to Engineering and management.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree or vocational training preferred.

• 5+ yearsof experiencemaintainingcomplex manufacturing or capital equipment in a production environment.

• Demonstratedexperiencetroubleshooting industrial equipment with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, cooling, and motion control systems.

• Strongability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, pneumatic diagrams, and mechanical drawings.

• Experience troubleshooting sensors, motors, VFDs, relays, PLC-controlled systems, and industrial control hardware.

• Strong understanding of preventive maintenance principles and equipment reliability.

• Proven ability to mentor and train technicians.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Abilityto prioritize multiple equipment issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Excellent troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

• Strongcomputerproficiency, including Windows operating systems and maintenance documentation systems.
