Salary/Hourly Rate: $25.14

The Lead Floor Care Specialist cleans and keeps facility working areas in an orderly condition and washrooms, or premises of an office, commercial or other establishment. Duties involve a combination of the following:
Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, polishing, and stripping/waxing floors; removing trash, and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms. Conducts conference room set-ups/tear downs. In addition to providing janitorial duties and coverage of daily vacancies, the Lead Floor Care Specialist works closely with the Project manager acting as eyes and ears and assisting with reporting daily occurrences to the PM.

This position will also coordinate closely with the PM and evening crew regarding the completion of Floor project work such as carpet extractions, hard surface refinishing, and/or major machine cleaning projects.

Primary Duties

  • Maintains building interior by dusting and polishing furniture, equipment, mirrors, and fixtures; washing windows, counters, walls, ceilings, and woodwork. Resupplying restrooms. Vacuuming drapes, furniture, and replacing light bulbs.
  • Maintains Floor Cleanliness and conducting floor project work; sweeping, scrubbing, polishing, and stripping/waxing floors; cleaning and vacuuming carpets up to and including carpet extraction/ top scrubbing.
  • Maintains building appearance by picking up papers and trash; replacing light bulbs.
  • Removes trash by emptying trash containers; transporting materials to disposal area; collecting recycling materials.
  • Keeps cleaning equipment operational by following manufacturer's operating and care guidelines; completing operator repairs and parts replacement.
  • Maintains parts and equipment inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed parts; anticipating cleaning equipment replacement; placing orders.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintains safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Set-up and tear downs for scheduled conferences; chair and table set-up/repositioning as requested.
  • Coverage of unstaffed schedules due to illness/vacation.
  • Report daily needs to Project Manager to assist with shift and schedule coordination.
  • Act as eyes and ears for Project Manager.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, and Certification(s)

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred.
  • One (1) year janitorial experience required.
  • One (1) year of floor care experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to understand and follow direction.
  • Knowledge of various cleaning products and when to use them.
  • Must have good oral/verbal communication skills.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
