The Energy Optimization Manager will take ownership of field-based O&M activities across a portfolio of solar generation assets. The role combines operational leadership, technician coordination, maintenance planning, and issue resolution to ensure sites remain safe, reliable, and commercially productive.
Core Responsibilities Field Operations- Direct the day-to-day activities of internal technicians and external O&M contractors across multiple solar sites.
- Develop daily work plans and coordinate resources to ensure maintenance activities are delivered efficiently.
- Assign, monitor, and close maintenance tasks through the relevant CMMS platform.
- Check technician work records, timesheets, and completed tasks to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Lead daily operational meetings covering completed work, upcoming priorities, outstanding issues, and resource requirements.
- Escalate significant operational matters to senior management and support the implementation of corrective actions.
- Take responsibility for the delivery of planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across assigned assets.
- Prioritize maintenance requirements according to equipment condition, site performance, and operational criticality.
- Coordinate responses to equipment faults, site outages, alarms, and other unplanned events.
- Monitor plant performance through SCADA and remote asset monitoring systems.
- Work alongside engineering and performance teams to investigate recurring faults and performance degradation.
- Ensure maintenance work is carried out to the required technical, safety, and quality standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, site availability, and maintenance efficiency.
- Act as a key point of coordination during plant outages and significant equipment failures.
- Mobilize technicians and service partners to investigate and resolve operational issues.
- Support technical troubleshooting and ensure appropriate resources are deployed to restore equipment.
- Track incidents through to resolution and ensure lessons learned or recurring issues are appropriately documented.
- Maintain focus on minimizing downtime and restoring generation as quickly as practical.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records across the assigned portfolio.
- Ensure work orders are raised promptly and contain clear scopes, updates, and completion details.
- Monitor outstanding maintenance activities and ensure tasks are progressed within agreed timelines.
- Produce and contribute to operational reports covering maintenance performance, outstanding actions, and site issues.
- Audit work order information to maintain high standards of data quality and reporting accuracy.
- Oversee the availability and tracking of critical spare parts, tools, and field equipment.
- Maintain accurate field inventory records and identify upcoming material requirements.
- Liaise with procurement and internal stakeholders to source and position parts and equipment where they are needed.
- Ensure technicians have the resources required to complete planned and reactive maintenance effectively.
- Promote a strong safety-first culture across all field activities.
- Ensure technicians and contractors follow established HSE procedures, site rules, and applicable regulations.
- Work closely with HSE personnel during incidents, investigations, and corrective action processes.
- Challenge unsafe practices and ensure appropriate controls are implemented before work proceeds.
- Maintain consistent safety standards across all assigned facilities.
- Work closely with asset management, engineering, performance, HSE, and procurement teams.
- Provide operational feedback on equipment health, site conditions, maintenance requirements, and recurring technical problems.
- Contribute field knowledge to wider asset reliability and performance improvement initiatives.
- Support broader operational strategies designed to improve availability, reliability, and lifecycle performance.
- Completion of scheduled preventative maintenance within required deadlines.
