Mainstages is an educational theater company that delivers high-energy performances, workshops, and enrichment programs to schools, camps, and community organizations. We are seeking a reliable, organized, and hands-on Office Production Assistant to report to our main office in Fort Lee, New Jersey, and support our growing slate of programs and live events.
Position OverviewThe Office Production Assistant is a key support role that bridges office operations and on-site production.
This is a part-time position with a potential for growth in the future. This position assists with administrative tasks, prop and wardrobe management, and live event logistics, including transportation, set-up, and technical support. The ideal candidate is proactive, must be detail-oriented, comfortable in fast-paced environments, and excited to support live performance work.
- Assist with general office tasks including printing, note-taking, organizing materials, on-site-supervision, and basic administrative support
- Organize, catalog, maintain, and manage all props, costumes, and wardrobe for performances and programs
- Prepare, load, transport, set up, and break down performance sets, props, and technical equipment
- Drive to performances and programs and assist on-site as needed
- Transport performers and teaching artists to and from performances and programs when required.
- Monitor and assist with basic sound and A/V support during performances (training to be provided as needed)
- Ensure materials and equipment are returned, and stored properly, and ready for future use
- Communicate clearly with office staff, performers, and teaching artists to ensure smooth execution of programs
- Support additional production and office needs as they arise
- 3-5 years of experience
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Comfortable driving a company vehicle or willing to use a personal vehicle (gas and mileage reimbursed when applicable)
- Interest in technology, with willingness to learn basic sound and A/V systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions, manage time effectively, and work independently when needed
- Availability on periodic weekends and evenings
- Comfortable working in schools, performance spaces, and office environments
- Prior experience in production, theater, or live events a plus
- Willingness to travel frequently within the tri-state area
- Ability to lift and carry equipment, props, and wardrobe items (up to approximately 40-50 lbs)
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move for extended periods during performances and events
- Part-time position with variable hours based on programming and performance needs
Salary Range: $150 up to 3 shows per show date. $175 for 4+ shows per show date.
