Typical working hours are from Monday through Friday from 7:00 am – 4:00 pm, with on‑call duty, snow removal duty, and occasional nights and weekends.. This position is 40 hours per week.
SUMMARY:Under the general supervision of the Parks & Recreation Director. Responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, repair, and resource management for all City of Ft. Lupton facilities which includes building and mechanical equipment such as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), energy management systems, electrical, plumbing, evaporative coolers, water features and other mechanical and specialized equipment.
- Provide vision, direction, and supervision of all activities relating to city buildings, maintenance and cleaning.
- Develops an effective team of maintenance and custodian personnel by instructing all employees in the proper methods and use of materials and equipment for safe and efficient work performance and evaluates individual performances.
- Supervise, assign, and inspect the work of employees engaged in operating, maintaining, cleaning and repairing buildings, equipment, .
- Perform maintenance, cleaning and repair of City facilities, equipment, vehicles and buildings by performing a variety of carpentry, electrical, interior and exterior painting, plastering, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and mechanical repair work.
- Scheduling and monitoring specialized contracts, evaluating cost effectiveness of utilizing contractors.
- Maintains complete inventory of equipment; develops, implements, supplies and monitors preventative
maintenance schedules to ensure maximum longevity of equipment; and determines replacement, repair, and maintenance needs.
- Performs preventive maintenance on sports equipment, treadmills, weight machines, etc.
- Reviews work orders and establishes priorities, develops cost estimates, establishes work schedules.
- Responds to questions and concerns from other staff members regarding maintenance and custodial issues.
- Preventative service and repair HVAC equipment.
- Conduct light inspections of all City facilities to detect lighting or security hazards.
- Operates motor vehicles, grounds and snow removal equipment.
- Work with outside contractors to ensure all construction, repair and maintenance specifications are met for the City.
- Work closely with grounds department on various shared tasks.
- Manages daily cleaning operations and leads a team of custodial staff. Assign cleaning shifts, inspect facilities for quality, train workers on safety rules, order supplies, and handle staff performance reviews and scheduling.
- Knowledge of general facility maintenance, repairs, custodial techniques, products, and procedures for the City facilities.
- Supervisory skills for training staff and administering City policies.
- Skill in the operation of a variety of hand tools and equipment commonly used in City facilities.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, and the general public.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Trade knowledge in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, woodwork, cleaning, and small equipment repair required.
- General understanding of computers and technology for tracking parts inventory, reporting, schedules, and email.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma
- 3-5 years of buildings maintenance experience or related field.
- 2 years supervisory experience.
- Valid Class R Driver’s License at the time of application.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or the ability to obtain the certification within 6 months of hire.
- CPR, Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), First Aid certified or the ability to obtain certifications within 60 days of hire.
