Help implement and support day to day activities and coordinate all phases of the Maintenance Department to promote efficiency and cost control while reducing downtime in accordance with applicable company and regulatory guidelines.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Drive safety and environmental compliance.
- Lead and own the safety metrics and safety‑training program for the department.
- Investigate incidents and initiate root‑cause corrective actions within the department.
- Conduct 5S and safety audits, inspections and support Kaizen Events.
- Support, plan and supervise Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) and repair programs to ensure compliance with long‑ and short‑range goals.
- Use and oversee Megamation and L2L Software for tracking and reporting.
- Monitor and document maintenance and repair activities in Megamation and L2L Software; coordinate assignments with other departments and contractor activities.
- Engage team members in collaborative problem solving.
- Support and supervise directions from the Manager for overhaul and other major maintenance and repair activities to achieve maximum unit availability within budgeted costs.
- Support and train for the development of maintenance personnel.
- Ensure maintenance and repair activities are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements, company practices, and procedures.
- Take an active role in supporting quality initiatives such as QS9000 and ISO
14001. - Maintain cleanliness and order of work area, equipment and tools.
- Learn and participate in problem‑solving methods to support objectives.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Achieve a high focus on reducing MTTR and MTBF and ensure projects are completed on time.
- Plan the annual July shutdown.
- Perform budget reviews such as spare parts spending/approval, OT, usage/spending, and other departmental spending.
- Work on weekends when needed for maintenance team support or special projects.
- Possess good knowledge of the paint shop and its parameters, and read maintenance manuals and electrical diagrams.
- Analyze complex issues and problems requiring careful diagnosis.
- Be willing to travel up to 10% of the time if needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred or equivalent experience.
- 10 years of experience including supervisory experience.
- Previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment required.
- Complete working knowledge of plant maintenance and systems.
- Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, CNC and PLC knowledge to assist in troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic blueprints.
- AutoCAD knowledge preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to plan, schedule, direct and review work across multiple functional areas; interpret company policies, procedures and practices.
- Strong judgment and decision‑making, especially in unexpected or abnormal situations.
- Integrity, accountability, and dependability.
- Comfortable in all working environments, indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to interface with vendors, contractors, and employees at all organizational levels.
- Effective communication skills.
- Flexibility to work day or night shifts and weekends.
- Quick response to problems on short notice.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Climb stairs and ladders.
- Work at heights and with adverse conditions during operation and when participating in fire and emergency activities.
- Enter and work in confined spaces.
- Accurately read and interpret instruments and gauges.
- Pass a respirator physical and respirator fit test.
- Heed audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment, and use portable radio communication.
- Maintain high ethical and work standards and promote them among team members.
- Express thoughts clearly both orally and in writing; produce concise reports in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Collaborate willingly and maintain a cooperative teamwork spirit.
- Identify and communicate suggestions for improving work practices; implement viable, permanent solutions.
- Accept accountability for strategic planning and successful implementation of projects, programs, and duties; advise supervisors timely of progress or concerns.
