PURPOSE:The Custodian provides a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean environment to ensure full and productive use of district facilities.

REPORTS TO:Facility Director,Custodial Lead

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
  • Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, co-workers, and students.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities without necessity of close supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Ability to meet attendance standards to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Communicate pleasantly and effectively with all the members of the school district and community.
  • Provide excellence in customer service both internally and externally.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to insure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Ensure that all activities conform to district, state, and federal guidelines.
  • React to change positively and productively.
  • Adhere to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate all equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Ensure that classrooms, student gathering areas, restrooms, corridors and office areas are cleaned daily according to district specifications.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
  • Gather and empty trash.
  • Service, clean, or supply restrooms.
  • Report damaged school property immediately to the Principal and the Facility Director.
  • Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by building Principal or the Facility Director.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS /ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
  • Level 4 - Heavy Work
    • Exerting 20 - 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
  • Must be able to adapt to a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, crawling and turning.
  • Requires climbing and balancing.
  • Requires lifting, moving and carrying items up to 50 lbs.
  • Trunk Strength
    - The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.

    - The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
