TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: A full contract for this position is 240 days, with benefits as specified in the employee contract. Contract will be prorated based on the actual start date.
Qualifications- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Custodial experience preferred.
- Ability to perform the essential job functions.

- Ability to lift 55 pounds to shoulder height occasionally.
- Ability to push/pull a minimum of 20 pounds frequently.

- Maintain the general cleanliness of all buildings, grounds, and equipment located on school property.
- Perform major cleaning tasks such as wet‑mopping, sweeping, dusting, emptying trash (lifting waste paper and debris – minimum of 55 lbs.).
- Clean marker boards and disinfect drinking fountains.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, including floors and all fixtures (urinals, toilets, sinks, mirrors, partitions, and counters).
- Wash windows, window sills, and all glass doors, walls, and blinds as needed.
- Perform special duties relating to janitorial work that may not be part of routine duties.
- Perform ongoing tasks such as replacing light bulbs (climb ladders up to a height of 16 feet), filling dispensers, and setting up facilities for student and adult use (lifting furniture, boxes, and cafeteria tables – minimum of 55 lbs.).
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Make minor building repairs and promptly report major repairs needed to the Principal or Executive Director of Facilities.
- Ensure that all doors and windows are appropriately locked and turn off lights as needed and as shift dictates.
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs frequently, as well as regularly bend and stand as needed in a daily shift.
- Maintain and clean industrial janitorial equipment.
- Assist in major clean‑up in summer such as washing desks and chairs, washing down walls, stripping and waxing floors, etc.
- Replenish restroom supplies as needed.
- Empty all wastebaskets and trash containers inside and outside the building.
- Replace can liners and wash wastebaskets and trash containers as needed.
- Strip, seal, wax, and buff floors as scheduled.
- Check and clean yard drains weekly.
- Operate heating/cooling systems and set thermostats as directed by the supervisor.
- Maintain boiler room/supply closets in a workmanlike manner.
- Perform mandated inspections as scheduled.
- Enter work orders into Operations Hero program.
- Maintain grounds (i.e., remove trash/debris, landscape/pull weeds, trim bushes, etc.).
- Secure all windows and doors daily.
- Remove ice/snow from walks and entries as needed.
- Flush all flush valves at least once each week in the summer.
- Ensure that the building is alarmed as shift dictates.
- Be available for occasional non‑work‑day emergencies.
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Must have knowledge of the variety and uses of cleaning and sanitizing agents and the safety precautions necessary for their use.
- Must have knowledge of the proper care of, and ability to use, cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, power scrubbers, polishers and buffers.
- Must be able to work independently – sometimes with minimal supervision.
- Attend meetings as scheduled by supervisors and District Administrators.
- Ability to identify problems and resolve proactively.
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
- Maintain a professional relationship with students, faculty, administration and community patrons.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
