Communication Operator & Watch Person – Maintenance

Varied shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

What You'll Do

You’ll be the eyes, ears, and communication hub for Water Maintenance & Services. From monitoring buildings and equipment to dispatching crews and supporting facility upkeep, you help protect City assets and keep essential services moving—especially when others aren’t on site. This role blends light facility maintenance, security awareness, and real‑time communication, making you a key part of our behind-the-scenes operations team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor buildings, vehicles, equipment, and grounds to prevent loss or damage
  • Dispatch service crews and relay calls and information accurately during off‑hours
  • Perform routine cleaning, light maintenance, and facility upkeep
  • Lock/unlock entrances, conduct security checks, and make regular patrols
  • Report irregularities and support safe, efficient daily operations
What You Bring | Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with building maintenance, custodial, or facilities support preferred
  • Ability to work independently, use sound judgment, and stay alert during varied shifts
  • Strong communication and basic documentation skills
  • Valid Driver’s License
Technical Skills & Knowledge
  • Basic computer skills and comfort learning new systems
  • Understanding of work processes, safety practices, and dispatch procedures
  • Basic math and problem‑solving abilities
