Objective

This position is primarily responsible for evaluating and performing service and/or repair jobs on engines and generators.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and service equipment (generators, diesel and/or gas engines, transfer switches, switch gear, etc.) using proper tools and procedures.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and efficiently; work orders, service reports, allocation of time, and tracking parts.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction by ensuring customer needs and deadlines are met.
  • Complete all scheduled repairs in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to all safety rules and maintain quality housekeeping in work area.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No formal responsibility for supervising others.

Requirements

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 years or more of mechanical experience with engines/generators/air compressors.

Preferred:

  • 5 years or more experience with engines/generators, preferably Caterpillar equipment.
  • Experience with transfer switches, switch gear, uninterrupted power source (UPS) equipment.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of power train, diesel engines, and electrical systems.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal, written and listening skills.
  • Strong multitasking abilities, detail-oriented and self‑motivated.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Professional demeanor with both internal and external contacts including personal appearance and friendly, courteous treatment of peers and people at all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Strong computer skills experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and the ability to learn CAT/Mac Allister/Michigan Cat systems.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective customer and professional relationships through strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship‑building and consistent demonstration of solid professional judgment.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
