Job Summary:
The Plant Maintenance Technician plans, directs and coordinates work activities and resources necessary for concrete plant maintenance.
- Ensures plants run efficiently and effectively
- Diagnoses, troubleshoots and repairs plant equipment, electrical systems and equipment controls to meet production schedules
- Prepares and schedules winter repairs and preventive maintenance (PMs)
- Performs maintenance to reduce impact on production
- Communicates effectively with plant managers, operators, dispatch, operations and equipment personnel
- Advices managers and operators of problems, potential problems or schedule difficulties
- Facilitates collaboration among plant personnel
- Promotes and maintains a safe work environment
- Exhibits safe work behaviors; evaluates work area for hazards; eliminates or controls hazards
- Wears all prescribed PPE
- Participates in daily safety huddles and safety training; follows safe work plans
- Reads and understands hazard signs, training materials, work plans, instruction manuals
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including continuous development in alignment with the company's core values, competencies, and skills
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in industrial maintenance or related field
- Experience in concrete plant maintenance preferred
- Experience in fabrication, plumbing and/or welding preferred
- Valid driver's license that meets company driver requirements
- Exposure to extreme conditions at concrete plants, including heights, moving vehicles, moving equipment, live wires, exposed wires
- Outdoor conditions including inclement weather, precipitation, heat, humidity, dust, concrete, dirt
- Indoor office conditions including regular exposure to office equipment such as computers, copiers, mail machines, telephones
- Lifts, pushes, pulls, pours or carries heavy objects, loads of material, tools and repair parts
- Walks and stands for long periods of time; bends, stoops, squats, reaches to move materials and perform repairs
- Climbs in, out and under equipment; lays or stands under equipment
- Uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
- Uses good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination, ability to quickly move arms and legs
- Possesses excellent stamina to work 8-12 hours per day
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and adhere to a drug-free workplace and union substance abuse testing requirements
Full-time position, minimum 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday during business operating hours. During peak construction season, extended, evening, overnight, shift and weekend hours may be required.
